Ex Corde Ecclesiae: Reflections after 30 Years

Foreword by Cardinal Guiseppe Versaldi. August 2020 marked the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Constitution on Catholic Universities. To celebrate the anniversary, the office of the Vice President of Australian Catholic University and its Canon Law Centre planned to host a symposium with the participation of scholars and experts from around the world. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the symposium could not be held. Included in this volume are the papers that a number of the presenters had planned to give. Their reflections on crucial points of Ex Corde Ecclesiae will be helpful for those charged with the direction of Catholic tertiary institutions, and for all who teach and work in them, as they consider the mission and identity of their institutions going forward.
