The Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches - 20TH anniversary (2003-2023)

The first meeting of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches was held in Cairo, Egypt, from 27-30 January 2004, bringing together representatives of the entire family of the Oriental Orthodox Churches and of the Catholic Church.

Since then, the Commission, made up of some thirty members, has met every January for a week-long plenary session, alternately in Rome, at the invitation of the Dicastery for Promoting  Christian Unity, and in other countries, at the invitation of the Oriental Orthodox Churches.

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of this theological dialogue, this commemorative volume contains the documents agreed by the Commission, the annual reports and some of the speeches given at the sessions. The reader will have the opportunity to appreciate not only the profound ecclesiological insights of the documents, but also the incredible richness of the dialogue, in which the Coptic, Syriac, Armenian, Malankara, Ethiopian, Eritrean and Latin Church traditions are represented.
