This book is a manual of fundamental moral theology which provides the reader with suitable research instruments to better understand and navigate this field of study. Among its peculiarities are the special attention paid to the issue of the historical foundations of human acting; the commitment to overcoming ethnocentrism and being open to the plurality of moral cultures; the need of ensuring the objectivity of acting but always in a relational context. The latter feature plays a role also at the epistemological level as it constantly puts moral theology to the test of other sciences (and vice versa). The study is consequently aimed at providing the reader with all those tools which can help in reaching moral discernment, in the light of Christian faith, in the complexity of everyday life. Cataldo Zuccaro (1953) is a priest from the diocese of Frosinone- Veroli-Ferentino and a full Professor of Fundamental moral theology at Pontifical Urbaniana University where He previously served as Dean and Rector. He has always been interested in the issues related to fundamental moral theology, also within particular ethical contexts, and has authored influential studies on the subject. Noteworthy among his contributions for Urbaniana University Press is Morale e missione. Animare la fede e convertire la vita (2006, reprinted in 2013).
